Week 17!!

.....Lettuce Turnip the Beet.

Welcome to week 17 Little One.
You measure : about 5-6 inches from crown to rump ( or about the size of my my palm )
You weigh: anywhere from 4-5 ounces ( about the weight of a turnip. (( man I love turnip greens... and that reminds me of the one time I had a depression era turnip sandwich).. so yeah turnip)

This week of important things..
Important things this week for you, your heart is now regulated by your very own brain! It has steady beats anywhere from 140-150 beats per minute ( no more random heartbeats). You're already practicing important skills you're going to need at birth like suckling and swallowing so you can eat on your own. You are now beginning to gain a tiny bit of body fat ( to help keep you warm and healthy). You are most certainly listening a lot more too. In fact, you can hear lots of loud noises ( like this big thunderstorm we are having right this very minute) dogs barking, doorbells ringing, your sisters screaming those songs from Disney movies, and other random loud noises. They may startle you now, ( and I guarantee the singing from your sisters will startle anyone ), but this should get you accustomed to loud noises once you decide to break free of the womb. Surveys say that babies who experience these types of sounds in uterine will sleep fine once they are out and they wont startle as easy. Sometime between this week and next, the pads on your fingers and toes will develop their own ridges, loops, and swirls. Those are your fingerprints. No one will ever have any identical to yours.

Us.

I got to feel you move quite a bit more this week especially after I take my bath and have my pajamas on and start to relax. I will go ahead and apologize for keeping you moving so much the past few days. I came down with a terrible coughing fit that kept you flipping and flopping all over inside my belly. Im sure that you were trying to kick or punch me to tell me to " Cut it out Maa!" We didn't fall asleep this past Sunday night until after 345 am. Sheesh! I went to the doctor today and they told me that I have bronchitis. BOOOOO!! Although it was worth every terrible hacking cough and thinking I had Tuberculosis or Black Lung just to feel you flip flop back and forth in my belly. Its kind of like a tapping from the inside out.
We grew more baby strawberries this week. I wish that they would hurry up and grow." I looooove skrawberries!!" I cant wait to share my love of fruit with you.
Daddy also bought us a new lamp for the living room. Its a floor from IKEA that I have wanted for quite some time. It gives off such a pretty golden glow. We decided to put it in the corner by the TV. Its very soothing.
I cannot believe that we are through 17 weeks already. Time is flying by. Heres to you kiddo- Grow as much as you need. And be nice to me. Some of those stretches you do under my scar are terribly terribly painful, but you are worth it. I love you

Later little turnip,
xoxoxo Momma <3

Tiny strawberries from the garden!

I decided to make home made biscuits and gravy. My biscuits turned out flatter than I wanted but, they were still delicious.

17 Weeks! Check out that awesome job your daddy did on the chalk board

This strawberry was almost too cute to eat. But I ate it anyways.

And just for fun, this is some random man in downtown Orlando about 730 am preforming his own songs ( I don't even think he can play the guitar for real ) for passers by. He needs to put his shirt back on. I  was not impressed.

Week 16... big things.. and its not just gas!

Welcome to week 16 Sweet lil pup!

Today, April 22 2014

You are: 118 days old ( 16 weeks 6 days )
You measure: 4.57 inches
You weigh : 3.53 - 4  ounces

You're about the size of an avocado, or hand grenade... ( BOOM!!! You really grew again this week!)

Weekly Report:

Well, the bones are in place in your ears ( so that you can hear me better ). I give the best pep talks to you on my way to work. We listen to lots of music of different varieties. This morning we had a Southern Gospel sing off in the car on the way to work. I got all teary eyed when I heard two songs, thank goodness I carry tissues. The muscles in your back are getting stronger and helping you sttrreetttchhh out straight on your back. Also the muscles in your face are getting stronger ( that way you can frown like Mommy and grumpy cat, or have that sweet beautiful smile like your daddy ). You can also perceive light this week, so rest assured Im scouring the house for the brightest flash light I can find to shine in your general direction.

The US report:

I've felt pretty good this week. We had another good week of sleeping eating and breathing. Although my nose is kind of stuffy when I wake up it clears out by lunch time and I can breathe comfortably. We celebrated Easter, ate a few really tasty salads, and I made some Creamy Cilantro Lime dressing with greek yogurt that turns out is good on everything except fruit.  Popsicles ( the really fruity kind ) have become the favorite bedtime treat ( so what if those stupid plastic sleeves shred the sides of my mouth). The lemon head popsicles are really great and just sour enough.

Also, this week we went to the doctor. Everything with you seems to measure up well. They think youre growing just fine in there. I however have to go and have an ultrasound on my left breast because they found a small lump or cyst. Don't worry, Im not scared in the least bit. It doesn't hurt and Im sure its just something that happens in pregnancy. I'd rather be safe than sorry and keep us both safe. I go to that appointment on 4/23/2014.

BIG NEWS!:

I'm pretty sure that I felt you move for the first time this morning. I woke up on my back, and your daddy wanted to cuddle before it was time to get ready for work. I rolled over to my right side, and that's when I felt a squirming burrowing feeling in my belly. I think that was you! I hope to get many more of these squirmy feelings soon. I told your Papaw Ed, and he agreed that it was probably a bad case of worms, whatever the cause, it was blog worthy and no matter what he says, I think it was you.

I love you little squiggly wiggly worm,
XOXOXO Momma <3

Things from this week

Your daddy. He's so handsome, and such a good sport, wearing the gardenia flower I picked from the neighbors. I hope one day you love someone the way I love your daddy.

This is usually how I start my day off. Don't be alarmed.. I typically try to tame my rats nest of a hair. My mom did teach me how to brush my hair.

16 weeks, and celebrating that wiggle worm feeling in my belly.

And then comes some trash talking about how I can blow a big bubble gum bubble- and I slobber all over my own face.

There we go.. see I CAN do it!

Laughing it up because I did really slobber that much on my own face

Okay so Im gonna be a pretty fun mom I hope.

Yup 16 weeks has flown by.. I don't really think I have worms.. but then again it could be gas.

Love you sweet baby.

Welcome to week 16!

One of the first important "16s" of your life

Hey there kiddo!!! Yeah, you.. That's right.

Turn the volume up!!! Guess what? This week you can hear! Oh my gosh this is so exciting. There is so much good music that I am very exited to introduce you to. Good thing there are a lot of people in your family who enjoy all kinds of music.
I'm sure you'll enjoy ( maybe not)  many of my " Mini womb concerts"  that consist of me singing. I'm sorry I'm not a professional, but I try really hard. Usually in the car is where I'll be singing to you.

If you're wondering the first song you had sung to you today was " Love Shack" by the B-52s

You can watch the music video here:

Just because I was super excited this morning...  I love you lil baby!

15 Weeks!!!

Welcome to 15 weeks baby!

Hello there little orangutan
You are: 15 weeks, 4 days old today
You Measure: 3.42 inches from crown to rump
You Weigh: 1.52 ounces

( what a whopper - you're just getting started)

Happy 15 weeks little one!

This week you are the size of a small orange or peach. Yummy!! Lanugo is still growing and covering your tiny body. Which some of this will help shape your fingerprints. Your skin is still very translucent and a lot of the tiny veins would be visible to my eyes if I could look in and see you. Your lungs are continuing to develop as you are practicing breathing ( using amniotic fluid ). Your joints in your arms and legs are moving with much greater ease, enabling you to do all sorts of gymnastic maneuvers with flipping, kicking, waving, and rolling in my tummy.

Your growth has been so great this week, the muscles in your face can now help you practice smiling, grimacing, sucking your fingers or thumbs  and frowning ( daddy says : Like its Mommy, or Grumpy Cat)  Pictures shown here. Daddy likes to think mommy is grumpy a lot, but daddy forgets that there is a lot of stress for mommy too. Or he happens to catch mommy in a state of deep thought, and she has a " grumpy look" on her face.

Photos shown here for comparisons sake : Grumpy Cat & Mommy -  IDENTICAL TWINS!

Welp kiddo, this week has been another good week. I've slept well, ate well, and had a good week in general. We went to see the movie " NOAH" for a late birthday treat for daddy at universal studios and it was pretty good even though it didn't stick to the whole bible story. My milestones this week are: Im very gassy. No matter what I eat. I am sorry, but this is true. And I  am going to blame you since I don't have a dog here anymore. My pants are getting tighter- I catch myself wishing that I could wear yoga pants, sweat pants or no pants all day long. Ive eaten a lot of sour popsicles, and Wickles Pickles ( thanks to your Uncle Alan for introducing me to them- Ive also added Jamaican hot sauce to them as well )   separately- don't think I eat strange stuff all together.

Aside from that, this week has been great, Im looking forward to two things this week, celebrating Easter, and then Monday April 21 getting an update at the doctors office on you.

Happy growing love bug,

XOXOXO Momma.

Bonding with my baby

Well last night you decided to wake me up about midnight ( 12:48 am to be exact) and I was starving. I tried to ignore the pains and identify them as thirst pains and drink a large glass of water. But no, it was hunger. So loud, it even slightly scared me. My belly was more than growling - it roared. I'm surprised it didn't wake your father. So I got up again, went back to the kitchen and gazed into the great abyss known as ' the fridge." After staring for what felt like an unusually long period of time - I came up with a solution for food. A turkey bacon BLT.

Now keep in mind, that I have already had a full dinner about 4 hours earlier., followed by a not so often treat for dessert called ' trip to Dairy Queen' I got a small hot fudge sundae. I do try to eat well but sometimes ice cream is a special treat.

Back to the story, BLT sandwich on toasted 15 grain bread, and a tall glass of  1% milk. That's a serious order. We made our way to the couch  and broke bread together. The meal was more than satisfying to say the least, and I wished I had made more bacon. I really love bacon. ( however since February 2012, bacon & pork makes me all hot and sweaty. That's another story for another day)

I flipped on the tv for a few minutes as we ate and found a the perfect guilty pleasure show COPS ( and cops reloaded ). Requirements for this show are usually a bottle of Mountain Dew and jerky sticks and bags of nacho chips and twizzlers. I better NEVER catch you on this show unless you're the person doing the arresting.  We saw drug busts, prostitution stings and high speed chases. Good tv, classic redneck bonding.  I don't mind waking up when it's time being spent with baby. You're gonna be an alright kid I think. And hopefully we'll get along just fine.

I love you little bacon loving baby,
XOXOXO momma

Ryan's Sympathy Pregnancy Cravings ( Part 1 )

I have yet to get any specific food cravings. Ryan on the other hand has. Enjoy this quick clip, because I think its hilarious, he thinks its delicious. Very cute. Another reason why I love him.

My snack: half a tomato and cheese sandwich on 15 grain bread.

Week 14

Well here we are jelly bean, 14 weeks. This week is all about your hair- hair on the top of your head, your eyebrows, and baby fuzz known as lanugo. ( eventually that will all shed off after you're born and you acclimate to this world.).

This week you measure:

Weight: 1.52 oz
Length  3.42 inches  ( WHOOOOAHHH BABYYY! look at you all growing and junk... awesome!)

You're now the size of a small clenched fist. Also this week your intestines are going to start functioning on their own. ( Yay Poop!) One day, you'll poop just like everyone else.

Your body is getting fuzzy- ( like a teddy bear im thinking ) you're covered in lanugo. They say that it will help keep you warm those first few moments out of the womb.

Your body is moving a lot easier this week as well. No more jerky movements your muscles and longer legs and arms seem to just move smoothly.

We have entered the second trimester this week. WOO HOO!!! As far as how I'm feeling, Well I still feel great. Every once in a while, usually at night, I feel a stretching across my lower belly. I'd like to think that my body is making more room for you in there.

I'm also very happy that last weekend, on your daddys birthday, we let the world know that you were on the way. I made a slide show with family members who I am sure are just as excited as me to meet you. All you need to worry about is being a happy and healthy baby. Everyone will love you and they're already praying for you.

Hang in there and keep up all the hard work.

I love you more than you'll ever know.

XOXOXO,
Momma
