Week 9

Well here we are, Week 9, the last of the single digit weeks. I think that's a good thing. Apparently it is. There is a lot of growing going on inside me. Physically, emotionally, and spiritually. So here we go, the official Week 9 Update.

"March 1,2014

size chart: Peanut, Green Olive, Grape
( they were all equally delicious, even the frozen grape)

Today you are: 9 weeks and 3 days  ( 67 days old )
0.9 Inches long, and 0.7 ounces

Beginning this week your kidneys, liver, brain, and lungs are beginning to function. Your head is now half the size of your body. By now you should have lost that cute little tadpole tail, and your fingers and toes are still webbed ( almost like a puppy- you'll learn about those later on.) Also, your eyes are now fully developed, but they're not going to open for just a few more weeks. Another thing, your muscles are starting to develop! Lets go pump some iron. Those muscles are forming around your new skeletal system ( the bones are still soft, but getting stronger every day ). Way to grow little leprechaun!

- Week 8 Apology-
*Sorry! We Took A Trip*
Sorry there wasn't an update really for Week 8 with a photo. We ( you and I ) took our first trip to visit my family. We spent some times with Papaw Ed ( He's my dad& pretty funny) & his wife Nanny Kay ( she loves to cook and is pretty good at it too), Mimi ( that's my mommy, she's probably one of the wisest and most caring person that I know and is a great nurse ) and her husband Geezer ( he's very kind ), Alan ( my brother ), Dawn ( who is like a sister to me ), your cousins Haiden ( she's the eldest of your cousins and very smart ) and her little brother Rowan ( he's a big flirt- all he has to do is bat those cute eyes and I'm quite sure he could get away with anything ), and  Mary (my babysitter from when I was a kid ) and her husband Charles.
Everyone was SO EXCITED to find out about you. It was a most excellent trip and a fun time had by all.  You'll soon learn that family is very important to me.

- Back to Week 9-
This weeks big news is that you're really hitting a growth spurt. Vital organs, muscles, bones, and eyes. You must be staying really busy in there.  I'm already proud of all that you've accomplished this far.
As far as I go this week, I still feel great. There are a few minor aches and pains- my lower back really hurts after standing or walking for a good bit, and late evenings I get a very weird pain in the lower left side of my abdomen. I'm assuming you're shoving my innards around for some more room and some old adhesion scars from a previous surgery are making that a bit more difficult. So, sorry about that in advance.
Food- wise: It's about the same as before kid. Lots of juice & icy cold drinks, bananas, peanut butter. And something new this week, Salt & Vinegar chips. ( I've loved them for years, but this week; man oh man.. I could tear through a whole bag if I let myself ) They are delicious! Mimi was kind enough to buy me a few small bags when we went to visit Alan, but I forgot to bring them back with me. At least I know that when I get back there, i'll have some good sour and salty chips waiting on me.
- I can also add to this list Pickled Okra, Ive had a piece every day this week since getting back in town.-

Here are this week's Photos:

Here I am trying to take a decent photo of myself. I'm not really great at this so I'll apologize for that. Also I've got a big cheesy grin on my face...

Side photo, looks like there has been a little bit of expansion in the middle abdomen area, then again, maybe its gas.

- okay so, maybe next time I shouldn't pick such a dark background, but it was nice outside and this was the shadiest part of the back yard.-

The outside photos are by Ryan ( your daddy ) he's pretty good at most everything he does. You'll love him once you get to meet him.

And for once, my hair looks decent in these photos. I don't know exactly what it is, but this whole pregnancy my hair has been not its normal self. Today, I washed it early in the morning and never combed it- maybe that's the trick, don't take my word for it though.

Week 8

Week 8

Well, Tuesday 2/18/14 we went to the doctor. Ryan unfortunately had to work. However, we ( me and baby ) went anyways to get checked out.

We are measuring on target! The ultrasound was what you call transvaginal. Its quite awkward, and I'll give you a moment to look that procedure up if you like.

< pause- wait for people to look this up >

See, I told you it was strange.  Thankfully its the only one that I will have to do like that.

Heres how it went down.

Arrive at doctors office. Sign in, wait, begin to get hungry, eat protein bar in waiting area while people watch like its a zoo exhibit, and wait some more. I go in and give my urine sample,  and talk to the nurses. They tell me to change and prep for the ultrasound lady to come in. The room is very dimly lit, almost dim enough to take a proper nap. The tech comes in, introduces herself and begins the procedure.  I am told to hold my breath and watch the screen.  The first image I see on the screen is this :

Lookin' good. There you are, physical proof that there is life. Heartbeat 183 beats per minute, perfect.

 There's a head and a body

I coughed and you can now clearly see the arm and leg buds, however the video showed lots of fluttering of these buds when I coughed.

So far the baby looks happy and healthy just floating around in there.

This week, I traveled back home to North Carolina to see my family. This is when the fun news was revealed to each immediate family member of mine, and given a card that says
 " Pink or Blue
Our baby is due Late September / Early October 2014. Ryan and Kelly are anxiously awaiting their newest addition.
<3 Ryan & Kelly"
I printed out the photos and included copies of each, in each card for the family. Ryan was in charge of letting his family know, and I in charge for mine.

Every one seemed pleasantly excited, and happy for us. I did get a chance to explain it to my sweet beautiful niece Haiden, and let her promptly know that " I do not know anything about babies, and I will need your help as soon as its born." She quickly let me know " Okay, I can show you how to put on diapers, and you'll have to feed it, that's a mommys job, and I can also name the baby. I think we should name it ' Cupcake Puppy' . "  I have never felt so assured in my entire life. Hopefully this child will be just as sweet and funny as Haiden.

I did however get to spend some wonderful quality time with the family. Time that I will treasure forever.
Here we are visiting my dad, we both just watched a YouTube video on how to make a regular necktie into a bowtie. Clever huh? Yeah that's how we roll.

Here is my mom and Rowan. They enjoyed a game of patty cake for a few minutes.

This is Haiden. She's my buddy and she's very sweet. This is Sunday morning, after she woke up.

Here in this photo we have a typical Sunday morning breakfast. Dawn, and Rowan holding down the stove cutting up the strawberries, Haiden, and Alan mixing up the waffles.

Guess who?!

This is Rowan, he's a real heartbreaker. Watch out ladies...he's gonna steal your heart.

This is Haiden posing for our family selfie.

Thanks for reading, coming up this week, a return to Florida a pain in the belly, and more photos.

- Lots of love, KellBell.

Well hello and salutations, here is the update for this week.

" Feb. 15 2014
Today you are: 52 days old, 0.50 inches, 0.2 ounces, and about the size of a blueberry!

Hey there my little buddy,
Today we are 7 weeks & 3 days old. Woo Hoo! Hope you're hanging in there just fine, Tuesday 2/18/14 We go to the doctor about a check up to see how we are doing. It's been a good week, even though my lower back still hurts. Our favorites this week are: high pulp orange juice with pineapple, and white chocolate ice cream ( who wouldn't like that ). We had an excellent Valentine's Day, your daddy gave me roses, and had a nice warm bubble bath waiting on me when I got home from work, and a special dinner. Ribeye steak, mashed potatoes and fresh steamed broccoli. Daddy really  seems to be the one having the cravings. He loves cookies & chips! He also loves pickles, lots and lots of pickles.
Hang in there little sweetie, keep up the hard work- Hope to get to see you Tuesday.
Lots of love,
xoxoxo Momma

February 8 2014

Well hello!!! How do you do?

Someone very sweet and dear to my heart ( Ryan )  brought me flowers this week at work.  Happy, happy, happy! ( They're even more special because I know where he got them and didn't spend a fortune.)

Still not seeing much difference from week 5.
 ( week 5)

 (week 6 )

And our update journal

" February 8 2014
( pictured Quarter, Dime, Nickel, Penny, 1 grain of rice - that's you baby!)
You are: 0.30 inches long, and .01 oz.
6 weeks and 3 days old.

Hey there kid! Hope this week has been a good one. We had our first appointment wit Dr. Fu and they confirmed that we are in fact pregnant!
So far, your jaw, cheeks, eyes, ears, nose and chin are beginning to form. In addition to all of those things, your kidneys, liver, and lungs are beginning to develop, and your heart is beating about 80 times per minute. All of that hard work you are doing and you're no bigger than a grain of rice!
As far as I go, you've been very kind. Although the past two days my back has been super achy. Our current favorite foods are: toasted Ezekiel bread with peanut butter, bananas, ice water, and orange juice. ( Its really nothing new or out of the ordinary for me, no cravings as of this date ).
I hope you and I ( daddy too) have another great week, love you lots-
xoxoxo Momma
- PS keep being nice, I feel great <3"

This was a weekend that we had the girls, the weekend consisted of visiting with Deb and Russ ( Ryan's mom and step dad)  on Saturday, accompanied by me laying on the couch like an invalid with a heating pad on my back. Anytime I got up I would stagger and wobble about until I got my bearings. Sunday, we went to church at First United Methodist in downtown Orlando ( its got a great kids program), and went to lunch with Pete ( Ryan's dad ) Sunday afternoon.

- We still haven't really decided when to tell anyone yet.-

Follow up appointment with Dr Fu coming up on 2-18-14.

Week 5

Febuary 3, 2014

It was a good weekend. Very relaxing.

I took the second test on February 1 2014 and followed the directions exactly. My result is as follows :

I took my moms advice and started a journal, ( I also downloaded a pregnancy app that lets me kind of know whats going on inside my body )

" Hello! Today is February 1, 2014.
You Are: 38 Days old: 5 weeks and 3 days
0.10 inches big

Surprise! Your daddy and I just found out about you yesterday ( January 31, 2014 ). We are both excited that you have decided to join us, earlier than expected. So far, we are feeling great ( I've not felt sick yet, lets keep that up) my heart is so full!!! You have two sisters ; Melissa ( 11/07/2007) and Mackenzie ( 09/15/2009). Melissa mentioned last week that " You ( me) and daddy need a baby." And then she told us about a dream that we went to the park as a family. You ( the baby) must have clued her in. Welcome to my womb- have fun and be nice to me. Love, Momma <3"

February 1, 2014, ( I feel awkward taking these photos of myself. - Purely for documentation purposes only )

I called the doctors office Monday and they wanted me to come in the very next day to do their tests and let them examine me. The doctor, Dr. Fu, said the test results were in, and all signs point to pregnancy. We went over my list of medicines that I can and cannot take, what to expect at my next appointment, and how things are going to go.

Anxious and waiting to see what happens next!

And so it begins. A test you've never really studied for. Surprise!!!

So this is the part, where you put your faith in God and fully trust that he knows exactly what he is doing.

Friday, January 31, 2014, we go about our usual morning routine. Coffee, clothes, work, home.  However this day, I came home for lunch, dug through my old box of things under the bathroom sink and grab this old home pregnancy test, that was expired by at least one year, and still sealed in the package. I rip open the package, take the test, and wait. Nothing happens. No lines, no pluses, no marks of any sort. I tuck it back into the package, clean up, and go back to work. Later on that day, Ryan comes to visit me at work, and offers to stop by the pharmacy on the way home to get a box of tests for me to take.

Upon arrival at home, I see two tests, both clear blue easy home pregnancy tests. I decide to take one then, and one the next morning to be sure the first.one wasn't wrong. I did my duty, followed directions and left the test the allotted time as stated on the package. Too scared to review the results myself, I sent Ryan in to read the results. He reads the first one I took at lunch, " I don't know if this is right or not, let me see the other one." Dead silence. Until, he drops a test and says " Oops, hold on! Oh... Oh.."  He walks out of the bathroom, looks at me, and smiles. I am paralyzed. " What? What does it say?" - I ask him. " It says, 'pregnant' it's pretty clear."  Tears start flooding my eyes blurring my vision. " Oh my God, are you serious? Really? " I say. My heart must have started beating a million miles a minute. Feelings of Joy, Happiness, and pure elation fill my entire being. Along with feelings of fear, and worry because I don't know the first thing about children.

Ryan looks at me and comes over to hug me.  He asks " Are you alright? Everything is going to be okay, God has a plan, and we will be just fine." I nod  and embrace him. " I will be alright, I just pray everything goes well and the baby will be healthy."

Ryan says I need to call my mother or he will do it himself. Mainly he knows my concern because of my previous health reasons. I call, tell her and wait..

The conversation went well, better than expected. She quiets my concern about my health and assures me that, "Many women have gone through this for millions of years and survived and gone on to live healthy lives." I feel a bit more comforted, and begin to ponder how I will begin to tell the others. Monday I'll plan to call the doctors office, and see how to proceed from there.

So these are the types of pictures that I figured I should post. January 31 2014.

Playing the waiting game.

The results are in!  Pink test is the first test from lunch time, the second is the afternoon test.

HOLY MOLY!!!

So, as previously stated in other posts I've put up; I tend to let time pass. Things happen, right? Life gets busy and we forget about the lesser things, like writing and updating. What I am about to start posting will be a chronicle of sorts. I am mainly posting this for my future self, and the future person currently residing in my belly. Created by: yours truly, and her wonderful partner / fiancĂ©e Ryan.

That's right, I'm growing a baby. Now who knows what this baby may look like, act like, or even smell like ( yeah most babies smell great- then again you get the ones who cant stop soiling their underpants, which is no fault of their own. It reminds me of the " smelly cat" song from the show Friends, it probably happens because of something that their parental units have fed them).

As most of you who know me well, know that I am luckily the baby of my family. No younger immediate cousins, no babies to really practice on or babysit, and no diapers to change. I refer to that as a " Posh Status." My life is about to take a drastic turn around. I virtually know nothing about rearing children. This will positively be one of the most challenging and rewarding ( I hope ) things that I will ever do in my life. So please pray for me, and Ryan as we journey through this together.

This is probably one of my favorite candid "selfie" photos of myself and Ryan from 2012
