Your daddy

This is one reason I really love your daddy. He is silly, sweet and super fun.

12 Weeks! 12 Weeks!

We made it! 12 Weeks, which means almost the end of the first trimester. Very exciting stuff here.

Today is March 24, 2014   ( Your cousin Rowan's 2nd Birthday today )
You are: 12 weeks and 5 days  ( 89 days old )
You weigh: about 0.5 ounces
You measure: about 2.5" from crown to rump

( I know we usually do this on Saturdays, but we were busy trying to get things done around the house and watching your sisters :-)  )

You are about the size of a large plum or a medium size egg.

This week your digestive system is starting to work by practicing contractions and swallowing. Your body is starting to make its own white blood cells out of your bone marrow. This will be helpful in fighting off germs on your own once you're out of mommas belly. Your pituitary gland is also beginning to make hormones of your own- which you'll need many years from now. Your liver and spleen are busy producing blood cells and your liver accounts for at least 10% of your body weight. Your muscular system and nervous system are working together- You're now bending, stretching, kicking and punching about and even making faces on your own.

Mommas body this week is holding up pretty well. I've had a few strange pulling sensations in my belly while I've been sleeping- Im assuming that its you making more room to grow. Also, I have to be careful when I am getting up from sitting, squatting, or laying down. I get just a little bit dizzy. Mostly because you need lots of blood & my blood vessels are really relaxed so you can use that blood to grow even more.

Tomorrow is a BIG day for us. You, me & daddy get to go to the doctor to check and see how you are growing and hopefully get to hear your heartbeat for the very first time. We may even get to take a peek at you. I am extremely excited about this!!!

As far as food goes, I have really enjoyed some strawberries, ice cream, and lots of fresh sliced pineapple. The pineapple was so good, I ate the entire container by myself, and I wasn't even hungry. I hope that this is a good sign that you'll be a healthy eater and like all kinds  of good food.

I pray that all is well with you in there. Daddy and I are excited to get to see and hear you tomorrow. Keep on growin' lil green bean.

xoxoxo,
Momma <3

P.S. Happy 2nd Birthday to your cousin Rowan!

12 weeks!

Just some photos from work. Today the pooch is poking out more than usual. I thought I'd take a picture or two to document. Truth is, I'm sure it's not all baby. The system is probably a little backed up because digestion is slower and gas is causing some bloating. Love y'all ! Happy almost Friday !!!

here is a week 11 video from a website I enjoy reading up on.

11 Weeks

March 16 2014

Today: 11 weeks 4 days
You are: 81 days old
About: 1.61 inches long from crown to rump
Your weight: 0.25 ounces

( You Have Grown about .39 inches, and .11 ounces in one week! Way to grow sweet pea!!!)

Today, you are about the size of a fig, or a very large strawberry ( hey, its what I had on hand and was truly delicious at the time). This week is the beginning of a big three week growth spurt. This is a period where you will DOUBLE IN LENGTH, and go through an all around huge growth spurt. Exciting I know... no seriously, I am excited kid.  Your tiny little fingernails are beginning to form on your little toothpick like fingers. Blood will begin circulating between my uterus ( imagine a big balloon and you're inside of it ) and you, and the placenta will start functioning as well. You are now more human like than ever! WOOO HOOO!!! With a visible neck, a straighter back, and thicker skin. Your tiny fingers and toes are now more distinguishable to the human eye ( if I could look in there myself believe me I would ) And there is less risk of a congenital defect now because all of your vital organs should be fully formed.

This has been yet another WONDERFUL week with you. Hopefully you have grown lots, and you're feeling awesome as well. Just flipping and floating around in my belly. I can only imagine that it would feel a lot like scuba diving, or free diving. My lower back hasn't hurt quite as much as it had been in previous weeks, however I have been very very very sleepy. Any chance I get to rest, I have taken full advantage of it.

One really exciting thing this week is that we bought your crib. It is really quite awesome and fantastic.  Your daddy and I had a lot of fun putting it together ( he was way better at it than I was, I really wasn't quite sure what parts went where.  Also, after it was put together and thoroughly cleaned, I put some new sheets on it. These are sheets that your sweet Mimi made. They're my favorite shade of buttery yellow, with a white border that has colorful confetti designs on it. You'd look like a nice little pastry tucked into bed sleeping.
Look how proud he is!!

As far as food goes this week, I have really enjoyed; Salt & Vinegar chips ( the more sour the better ), Ice cold orange juice, bananas, strawberries, and coconut yogurt. I know it sounds yucky right? Well rest assured that I don't eat all of those things together. Oh, I also have had lots of hot sauce with dinner each night this week ( or the occasional pass by the fridge and put some on a spoon and eat it straight from the bottle).  Maybe you'll like that spicy stuff as much as I do. I know your Papaw would enjoy that. He really loves hot sauce.

I hope you and I have yet another great week. I love you very much jellybean.

XOXOXOXOOOXXX,
<3 Momma.

Baby jail ! I mean crib.

Week 10

Well here we are Week 10- actually 10 weeks 3 days. It is March 8 2014.

Today is : March 8, 2014
You are: 73 days old , which is : 10 weeks, 3 days

Well Hello sweet kiddo!

Congratulations! As of today, you are now equipped with all of your internal organs. Your heart is now almost fully developed. The tail you once had is now gone, along with those webbed fingers and toes. Your eyes are slowly migrating to the front of your cute face- pretty soon you'll be able to detect light. ( Don't be scared. I will probably be trying to shine a light or play some music for you soon.) Also, this week your diaphragm is going to start forming. That will come in handy when you're crying and squealing.

One important and neat thing going on this week, you are beginning to notice the sense of TASTE. From here on out, until you are born, you will be able to taste the foods I taste. Spices like garlic, basil & oregano, vegetables like onions, carrots, and fruits like apples oranges and bananas. How exciting! Momma loves to try all kinds of food and likes spicy things as well like hot peppers. Yummy!

This week you are the size of a date. ( Its like a big rasin, but super tasty - unfortunately I don't have any here at the house, maybe I'lll find one at the grocery store )  Dates are delicious and yummy. You can even ask your uncle Alan about the time we had date milkshakes, in Dateland, Arizona. That sure was a fun and interesting trip.

this is where we had the milk shakes- looks like its had some serious renovations since Alan and I have been there.

You weigh : 0.14 ounces
You Measure: 1.22 inches from crown to rump

I hope you are growing lots & getting everything you need. I would like you to quit using my bladder as a trampoline though. I wake up about 2-3 per night to go and pee. Otherwise baby, I'm feeling great. This is the first day this whole pregnancy that my back hasn't hurt. I even felt so good this morning I washed and cleaned my car. I'll keep this weeks note short and sweet because your sisters Melissa and Mackenzie are here to visit for the weekend. I hope you have another great week in the womb. I love you already more than you will ever know.

XOXOXO,
Momma  <3

Officially 10 weeks!

So, today I am officially 10 weeks pregnant. So far this has been excellent, sans the many trips to the bathroom today. Seems to be, that today of all days, my bladder is either:
A) The size of a small paper Dixie cup ( you know the kind you got in school to swish with).
 B) Being squashed by an ever growing uterus (supposedly the size of a small grapefruit as of today).
C) Or I have an enlarged prostate and should see a doctor immediately ( I'm one of those people who really listen to those medical commercials).
 D) My body is starting to react to all of this pregnancy hype. And every bathroom seems too far away.
Or
E) All of the above.

Aside from that, - knock on wood- I still feel great! ( this is the part where I start believing I am part unkillable cockroach - (you know, the kind that is still completely un phased by every single chemical known to man). That's me, and I'm quite happy about it all to be honest.

I've really been trying to up my water intake ( adding to the  " my bladder gets smaller by the second" issue). Eat well balanced meals, with healthy snacks in between; keep my stress levels as low as possible, and find a reason to walk / exercise more often than usual. It seems to be going well.

Here are your photos!

***** Suck in your gut!!*****

Whether you suck your gut in or push it out, I think it probably won't matter for the next few months.

***** yeah, still looks the same. *****

Hopefully anyone who is reading this blog  is doing well too. Maybe you've had a good day, work was as good as could be expected, and your boss still likes you.

*A note to my family back home; I miss you all terribly ( I'm trying my best to not get all emotional and cry). I miss seeing the familiar faces of my parents, their spouses and my brother, sister in law and their precious kids. I miss ya'll !!! The only thing that's keeping me sane, is regular check ins, photos, Facebook, phone calls and seeing Ryan. Some days you just wish you could re-live that time you unknowingly put strawberry quick in a glass of buttermilk ( thanks ingles for making the cartons look so similar when you're half awake); all for the sake of that single second where your mom laughs and tell you 'it'll be alright, just go wash your mouth out'. Or maybe it's moments you have Saturday mornings with your dad, where you gather the trash, stop by The Miami - have coffee and a good breakfast accompanied by an extended family of neighbors / relatives,- and make your way to the sanitation station and brave that awful stench of trash just for the sake of spending time together.

If I've learned a few things thing in life, it's appreciation and gratitude. God has blessed me with a second chance, and I hope I'm doing it right. I always try to find the good in any situation, and in people. Always be thankful for what you have, no matter how big or small.  Also, remember to tell your loved ones ' I love you ' and mean it. There's no joking about that one.

Signing off, & I love you,

~ Kelly

So proud

Being a girl does not define you. It does not mean  painting and slathering everything in pink and purple, lots of dolls, and lace and frilly dresses. Its okay to do, but people should practice moderation. Let the child teach you.

I love how my brother and his beautiful wife are able empower and teach Haiden that there are a lot of things that life has to offer.

Be strong young one, for one day you may conquer the world.

( this photo made my day ) Im thinking she's gearing up for that birthday pig hunt.

Something Not Baby Related

Okay so I will occasionally post non baby related photos..  I will give you a short quip for each photo that I post.

 This tomato plant.

This plant, has survived a really rough life. We planted some tomato seeds back in the summer of 2013, upon some bad advice, we planted them close to the house so they could get full sun. Little did I know, that would burn the plants up. This is one last tomato plant that we were able to save. We had to dig it up, re-pot it, and hope for the best. All winter ( here in Florida, its never really what I consider cold. ) it  just sat there and straggled about in the pot. Some green leaves and some yellow, we weren't quite sure it was even going to make it, let alone produce fruit. about 3 weeks ago some tiny yellow flowers appeared, and low and behold, we now have at least 4 tomatoes with more on the way.

This all goes to show you that with a little bit of persistence, some faith, decent soil and fair conditions, good things do happen. Now, I am waiting for the right time for Ryan to pick them and we can enjoy them in a salad, by themselves, or on a sandwich.

Hooray Tomatoes!
